

If you're not into multiplayer, Soul Storm is the best bang for your buck with a whopping nine races. If not, you can only use those expansions' races. The way the standalone expansions work (Dark Crusade and Soul Storm) is that they ask for / check for CD keys from previous games if you have them, you can use those races in multiplayer. The campaign is moved from classic story missions, to a risk-style map where you capture territories and knock races out by assaulting their stronghold (which has unique gameplay elements).
